Torrey began riding as a child, first as a hunter/jumper, then as an eventer, and finally specializing in dressage.  Having grown up on a Hanoverian breeding farm, she has over 30 years of experience in horse care and dressage, including training her own Andalusian/TB mare from birth to Grand Prix, earning her USDF bronze, silver, and gold medals. She is also a US Equestrian "r" judge.

Torrey has trained with FEI and Olympic trainers, including Heather Mason, Jeanne McDonald, Holly Wilmoth, Lauren Sprieser, Linda Zang, Jacqueline Brooks, Charles de Kunffy and Julio Mendoza Loor.  She has received numerous regional and national awards from Training level to Grand Prix, and has had her accomplishments published multiple times in the Chronicle of the Horse and The Iberian Horse magazines.

Torrey also has professional experience outside of the horse world.  She received her PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and worked in the corporate world for 10+ years helping clients in the areas of executive coaching, leadership development, performance management and career development. This powerful combination of equine and adult learning and development is what makes Torrey an ideal dressage instructor.
